The EuroSpine education curriculum acknowledges that there are many health care professionals involved in the management of spinal disorders: General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Rehabilitation specialists, Rheumatologists, Orthopedic surgeons, Neurosurgeons, Psychologists, Radiologists… There is little doubt that progress in research and advances in practice have been hindered by a lack of common ground between professions, which generally seem to use different languages, attend different scientific
meetings, and maintain separate literatures with remarkably little cross referencing between them. We would therefore propose the following curriculum for the next five years (will annually be evaluated and modified).
Task forces involving several European Spine Societies are ongoing to create guidelines for the multi-disciplinary care of spinal disorders through courses and fellowship programs to optimize Treatment strategies, Team work and Multi-Centre structure.
In 2011, the Education Committee of EuroSpine, the Spine Society of Europe will focus on extending the Diploma course curriculum which must integrate even more the non-surgical treatment options of spinal diseases with the help of non-surgeon experts joining the Education Committee.
